Cooperators Program
The Cooperators Program is a voluntary program between landowners and the MWF Habitat Foundation. An Agreement recognizes the importance of the property for native plants and animals and includes a commitment from the landowner to protect the habitat to the best of their ability. Either party may cancel the agreement by written notice. Boundary signage is provided by the Foundation.
Landowners who still use their land or wish to retain it for other reasons but do want to contribute towards conserving wildlife habitat by committing to prevent clearing or development of any portion of their land, may do so by formalizing that commitment through voluntarily signing a short agreement with MWF Habitat Foundation Inc.. Such an agreement identifies the legal description of the property as well as those portions committed to habitat. The owner may continue in occupance of the land and to make use of those portions not affected by the agreement. In exchange for entering into a Co-operator Agreement, the land owner receives a personalized driveway marker and in addition may purchase standard markers at cost, to identify the boundaries of the property of the Wildlife Habitat Co-operator. Apart from formally recognizing the good deed on the part of the landowner, the signs serve to remind others of the need to preserve habitat.
